Curation efficiency/ accuracy internal audit:
We examined curation efficiency for the SciCrunch Resource Registry. The total number of resources in the Registry as of February 16, 2023 is as follows: Curated (22434) and Rejected (739).
We captured and analyzed the day on which a resource was submitted to the database and the day that a letter was sent to the submitter.
For the SciCrunch Registry, between 1/3/2023 and 2/15/2023 (30 working days) a total of 210 resources were submitted. Of these, 133 resources were submitted by individual authors requesting an RRID, an average of 4.3 resources per work day.
Of these, 63 workday submissions (submissions on weekends are adjudicated on the first work day of the week) were examined in detail to determine how quickly letters were sent to the submitter. 94% of submissions (59 of 63) were confirmed the same day as requested and were available to the public view the next day. Reasons for not obtaining RRID the same day (6%) as requested included insufficient information or sending the request in the late afternoon or at night. If the resource was curated in the late afternoon the data were available in 48h to the public view instead of overnight.
The rest of these resources were submitted via bulk or automated upload processes. Typically these bulk additions are University shared Core Facilities, which are submitted via the ABRF Core Marketplace (https://www.abrf.org/core-marketplace). Typically, the ABRF interacts with the Core directors, thus our curation team does not send separate emails.
